Surrey Sound Healing School from Heron Moon
My name is Rebecca Parker-Barabich. I live in Surrey, with my hubby Ronnie, my 11 year old daughter, Tabitha and our menagerie of furry friends - the dogs - Zoe and Bodhi, Walter the cat and Hazelnut/Steve the hamster (yes, he has two names!)
I have a son, Dan, who is 23, now living in Windsor, working in PR. A step-daughter Amber, also 23, who runs her own salon and Amelie (14) who lives with us part-time.
I feel very blessed to have a wide blended family, but there is a lot to keep up with!
I am here now, as a Thyme With Charlie qualified Sound Healing Instructor, after a series of fortunate events!
Three years ago I was Head of PR and Events in a highly ambitious corporate firm, with a huge build programme of retirement villages across the UK.
I worked in sales, marketing and pr for 20 years. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the progression, but I was becoming increasingly disillusioned with the politics. And I was burnt-out from all the pressure.
Besides, something else was calling me!
I'd been seeing herons EVERYWHERE for a while... and I mean literally everywhere! Once, driving home along the motorway, desperately trying to make the childcare pick up time, THREE flew over at different times...
Curious as to what it all meant, I looked into the symbolism and instantly knew - it was time to spread my wings and follow the next flight path.
But what was my destination?
I was a certified Life Coach, having trained over a decade earlier, so maybe I could do that, or perhaps I could freelance... or both?!
Anyway, to cut a long story short, serendipity was at play. I rocked up at a sound session up the road one Friday evening and I sat on my mat right next to Charlie. Bizarrely, she tuned to me and asked 'are you a healer?'. I WAS SHOCKED! I had just had a coaching session where the words 'I am being called to heal' had popped out my mouth, seemingly from nowhere!
I said 'no, but I want to be!' Charlie told me she was running a Sound Practitioner course in Wimbledon, starting in a couple of weeks. I immediately knew it was for me. I picked a card from Rebecca Campbell's deck, it said 'TAKE A LEAP'! I did just that, and I haven't looked back since.
In December that year I walked out of the London office with a skip and a jump. Everything was coming together perfectly. I had the money I needed to cover me for three months. I went to Covent Garden, bought a new piece of quartz to help me on my way and finally got my nose pierced (something I had been wanting to do for ages). I was on my next stage of awakening!
I have always LOVED sound. I spent a few years living opposite a church growing up and I found the bells so soothing. Even now, I make a point to outside on a Tuesday night and listen to bell practice in the distance.
Like many of us, music had played a massive part in my life - from our family favourites - The Beatles, The Stone Roses, The Beach Boys & tonnes of 80s bands, to my teenage years of RnB and seedy jungle clubs, plus a deep appreciation of chill-out music. Nowadays I listen to spiritual stuff a lot too. I like to combine music with the bowls in my sound meditations... it brings me so much joy!
Looking back, my first sound bath was a revelation! I felt as if I had come home. The chance to train as a practitioner was the best decision EVER!
Fast forward a couple of years and here I am, running my business, Heron Moon (of course!) as a coach & healer. I run events & retreats... I even became a Laughter Yoga Teacher... and now, a sound healing instructor! Every soul-led decision I have made has led me to this place. To be here now.
My passion in sound, my mission is to serve and my purpose is to share my learning with those who are ready to receive.
As Rumi said, “Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”
If you find my story inspiring, and you feel that strange pull, I urge you to take a leap too! It may not always be easy to follow your truth, but the joy and satisfaction of doing so will make all the effort so very worth it!
Thank you so much for reading. And please do get in touch if you have any further queries.
